Mortality Files - Deaths of Australia's Vietnam Veterans since the Vietnam War.
AUSTRALIA's VIETNAM VETERANS'

Free Online Funeral Notices
for
Australia Defence Force Community |
|
I've previously approached
DVA about providing an "Online Funeral Notice Site" for
Australia's veterans. They have all the necessary
information but have declined to provide this service.
I approached "heavenaddress"
about this matter, in early 2011 . Their Managing Director, Derek Goh,
telephoned me back. He's been very generous with his
company's time and resources to effectively create a web
site within a web site. There is still more development
work to do but the basics are in place. There are no
costs involved for members of "Australia Defence Force
Community" which embodies both veterans and serving
members.
It's there for people to use
- use the hyperlinks immediately below this notice.

Most of the entries
in "heavenaddress" relative to "Australia Defence Force
Community" emanate from the "Mortality Files".
The format of the "heavenaddress"
files and the "Mortality Files" are different and in
converting the files across to the "heavenaddress"
format some anomalies have arisen. As time and resources
permit these will be addressed.
The main ones are:
-
Duplication of
some entries
-
Error in "Place
of Birth" where it is outside Australia
-
Ranks are shown
as the rank when in Vietnam, unless we receive more
recent information from relatives or comrades.

Donations to Charities
This feature
is not quite active yet but will be processed through:
Mycause - charity
and fundraising events
My understanding
is that people will be able to choose the charity to
which they wish to donate. The charity will have to be
registered with "Mycause".
As curator of
"Australia Defence Force Community Online Memorial
Community" I'd like to see some charities that help
veterans and serving members in their fights against
unjust treatment by successive Federal Governments.
There may not be charities established for the causes
listed below but I believe the community would support
them:
-
Fair Go Campaign
-
TPI Equivalent for widows of ADF Personnel Killed in
Action

Australia's Military Veterans - Online Funeral Notices
|

|
|
The
www.heavenaddress.com web site has uploaded our excel files into
Australia Veterans Online Community of over 8,000 deceased
Australian "Vietnam Veterans". This web site is supported by leading
funeral industry businesses such as funeral directors, cemeteries,
crematoria etc. and it is the largest online memorial website in
Australia.
The
uploaded files only relate to Australia's Vietnam Veterans. Veterans
details from other conflicts can also be uploaded to
www.heavenaddress.com by sending the information in excel format to
heavenaddress. Please provide these excel files to me in the
first instance and I will pass them on to heavenaddress.
There is a capability within the heavenaddress website for
the input of information independent of our files by clicking:
http://heavenaddress.com/CreateaMemorial/tabid/178/Default.aspx.
All
posting is free of charge and there is no further cost involved.
If
you want to search their website for a particular veteran it helps
considerably if you can provide the full name, however heavenaddress'
search is able to find and return a result even if a search is on a
partial name. For instance a search for "Robert Sykes" or "Sykes
Robert" will find "Lcdr Robert John Sykes". Another way of searching
is via Google, for example Google "Robert Sykes heavenaddress" will
find an entry in the heavenaddress.
We
would like to express our sincere thanks to heavenaddress for
providing us with an online memorial platform.
