The HMAS BRISBANE Association wishes to advise of the passing of a shipmate:

R49473 CPOQMG Peter John Hadler, Age 70.

Peter served on both the 1969 and 71 BRISBANE deployments to Vietnam, and
also on DUCHESS escort trips to Vietnam in 1965 and 66.

No details of his passing are known, he was not a member of the Association,
and his Death Notice was in the Daily Telegraph in Sydney in December.

Blue skies and gentle breezes, wherever you may roam.  Rest in Peace.

Hi Diane,

Since Ted Mac emailed me today I have chased around here in Brisbane to ascertain that the details about John Montgomery are correct and that he is the said person.

I contacted Metropolitan Funerals, Col Bell and a Bob Cotter from Sth Brisbane RAAFA  and .John Mc Dougal, President of RTFV/35 Squadron Association. John Mc Dougall said that he was up there in Vietnam in 1964-5 and does not recall him. So we don`t think that he was an aircraft tradie or a driver.

Bob Cotter thinks that "Monty" had something to do with security.

John Montgomery died from complications of Alzeimer`s disease.

I hope that this information can help you.

Kindest regards

John Webster.
Hon Sec / Treas.
RTFV / 35 Squadron Association.

G'day Brian

I have heard on the grapevine that Garry Self, ex 6708520, born 1945

and served in SVn with HQ 1 ATF on 28 Dec 1967 to 27 Aug 1968, died on

about 20 or 21 January 2006 in Port Arthur.

Can you please confirm this as fact for me.

If so, then I will add it to the mortality list of HQ 1 ATF soldiers on

the web site.

Hear from you in due course

regards eddie

Terry
At this stage, mate, add a note in your files of his death on either of those days.
If the Tassie blokes don't reply to my emails, then I'll follow up this end.

However I am off to Canberra on Monday for a week to do research for my manuscript on SVN.

Will come back to you later on this one
