Don, Ivan Hinks phoned me last night to let me know that George Swann,

arguably the best known and remembered of the OC's of 3Fd Engr Regt Wksp,

passed away in Cairns on Thursday. George Ivan and I were good mates for

more years than I care to remember. I liked George as colleague and OC and

despite some of his quirky ways, George always put the serviceability of

 the

Regts equipment as the first and only priority of the Workshops.

I am sure that there are more than a few old's and bold's among the NQ

Sappers who will remember George.       Jim van Reyk.
