Along with other veterans I was always concerned that the QOFT was taking too long to conduct the relatively simple investigation into the employees of Writeway who for years have been carrying out the duties of private investigators in Queensland. Today I received the attached letter which revealed that the QOFT was simply waiting the opportunity to amend the Queensland Security Providers Act 1993, which occurred in March 2007. This amendment effectively allows DVA to escape their responsibilities in the past from knowingly using unlicensed private investigators to carry out biased investigations into the T&PI claims of veterans. I was never afforded the opportunity of a personal interview although I was continually promised one by QOFT and it is obvious that a secret deal has been done between the QOFT and DVA to run this investigation dead and to make DVA blameless for its actions. This was even after Mark Sullivan, Secretary DVA reported to the Senate Estimates that the QOFT were about to commence legal proceedings against Writeway. However, despite this time delaying ploy no legal action was ever commenced and I doubt it was ever seriously contemplated. The official QOFT record will show that the so-called regulator never vigorously pursued the complaints against DVA and its agents and has simply given in to the omnipotent Federal Government either through complicity, ignorance of the law or possibly both. The contempt shown by the QOFT and DVA for the war veterans of Australia is obvious. No wonder young Australians are refusing to join the Armed Service in droves. I await the comments of other veterans after which time I will report back to you.
