Retired Lieutenant Commander John Atkins

versus

The Australian Government

My interest in this matter arose because retired Lieutenant Commander John Atkins emailed me on August 12th 2011 seeking my help in relation to problems he had with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and associated agencies going back several decades.

The catalyst for John's case gaining traction recently has been the involvement of Paul Evans. Paul previously worked for DVA and was appalled at the way John was being treated by DVA. Paul is very good at Freedom Of Information requests and has obtained FOI documents totalling 11 inches in thickness from DVA regarding John's case.

John has recently received FOI information from the Veterans' Review Board approximately 5 inches thick - in response to his 2001 request ie 10 years to act!

He also sent me 400 pages of decisions etc for me to review.

Harry Kirkman hand delivered his letter to DVA - copies are on this web page. Note that it was delivered 6 years ago - in 2005.

This is a unique opportunity for the veteran community to expose the corruption that many believe exists within DVA.

Exposing corruption within DVA should help other matters important to veterans such as the "Fair Go " campaign.

Letters in support of what has been done for John to the AFP Commissioner and your Federal Politicians (for most 1 MHR and 12 Senators) should help immensely.
